Studio Bitonti: From 3D Consultancy to Generative Design Software Developer

New York-based design firm Studio Bitonti has become known in the additive manufacturing industry for its boundary-pushing designs that emphasize innovation, aesthetics and function—often in relation to the human body. The studio’s founder, Francis Bitonti even designed some of the most notable 3D printed fashion pieces over the years—including Dita von Teese’s iconic 3D printed dress.

Senvol machine learning to be used for missile application with the U.S. Army AM Software

Senvol was awarded a United States Army Research Laboratory (ARL) contract to apply its machine learning software, Senvol ML, to rapidly design additive manufactured parts. The software allows the Army to qualify parts across AM processes and platforms, thus reducing the Army’s supply chain lead time. By leveraging ML algorithms, the qualification plan will also be notably more efficient than more traditional qualification plans (i.e. require fewer builds and less time).

nTop Platform Now Supports 3MF with Beam Extension

AM design software company nTopology has integrated support for the 3MF file format with beam extension in its nTop Platform 2.14 release. Users of the software can now easily export meshes and lattices as beams in the same .3mf file, facilitating the export process for 3D printing files and easing the transition to other software tools like Materialise Magics.

SHINING 3D Serially 3D Prints Metal Bottle Openers Using Voxeldance AM Software

Feng Tao, the vice general manager of SHINING 3D, first discovered the potential of VoxelDance Additive, a CAD-CAM software developed by VoxelDance, a young Chinese development firm specializing in AM-specific software. After an evaluation, SHINING 3D applied it to its EPlus3D EP-M150 and EP-M250 Pro printers. Since 2019, SHINING 3D has been using it to provide a comprehensive service from 3D digitalization, intelligent manufacturing to additive manufacturing in the EMEA markets. Voxeldance Additive has also been officially marketed as a key part of SHINING 3D’s integrated offer, taking care of all the data preparation jobs.
