Nano Dimension and Korea’s CBTP form research alliance for electronics 3D printing Electronics

Electronics 3D printing company Nano Dimension has signed a multi-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea’s Chungbuk Technopark (CBTP), a non-profit research institute focused on the smart IT, consumer goods, transportation, energy and bio-health sectors. The collaboration will see the partners working together to advance electronics 3D printing and applications.

TÜV SÜD and thyssenkrupp sign MoU focusing on additive-manufacturing-enabled solutions in APAC region AM Industry

The Singapore arm of the German safety and quality expert, TÜV SÜD, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with thyssenkrupp Innovations, an innovative additive manufacturing solutions provider, to establish the principles governing their cooperation in jointly developing the market for additive-manufacturing-enabled solutions in the Asia Pacific region. The companies will work together over a period of three years, starting with setting up industrial-grade manufacturing solutions as well as testing, inspection and certification services for land transportation and mobility, and industrial plant services. The companies may expand the scope of the MoU to cover other sectors as well.

BASF joins the IAM 3D HUB initiative AM Industry

Materials and chemical giant BASF has taken a keen interest to 3D printing recently. As reported by 3D Printing Media Network’s Spanish language sister website Replicador.es, the multinational giant joined the international Barcelona-area based additive manufacturing Hub, IAM 3D HUB, as a technological partner. The company is thus aligned with the Hub’s mission and objectives and will support its mission by providing know-how, materials, and technologies for new 3D printing applications. BASF also wants to contribute with new points of view based on its experience in the chemical and materials development sector.

GKN acquires FORECAST 3D, expands AM production capabilities to include plastics AM Industry

GKN Powder Metallurgy, the division of GKN where most of the group’s AM activities are concentrated, has acquired FORECAST 3D, a large California-based firm that provides production 3D printing services leveraging multiple HP MJF systems. As GKN acquires FORECAST 3D, it adds 25 years of experience in polymers to its advanced additive manufacturing production capabilities and market leadership ambitions in this high growth market.

New 3D printing announcements from BCN3D, Origin and Aleph Objects AM Industry

This Friday, we’re rounding up some news items that reflect both the good of the industry and its growth and a bit of the bad. On the positive side, BCN3D has restated its commitment to open source technologies with the release of 3D printer files for its Sigma R19 and Sigmax R19 and Origin has started shipping its Origin One 3D printer. The industry received some more negative news from Aleph Objects, however, which appears to be downsizing significantly to stem problems of cash flow.
