Atelier des Refusés and Stratasys create 3D printed decorative pillows Consumer Products

Atelier des Refusés, known for their unique and high-quality decorative pillows, has partnered with Stratasys, a market leader in 3D printing, to launch a new collection called ‘Biodiversity’. Inspired by the world of mushrooms, this collection celebrates the beauty of biodiversity and the essential role these organisms play in the natural regeneration process and terrestrial ecosystems.

The pair share common ground in their commitment to sustainability. Atelier des Refusés, named after the historic Parisian Salon des Refusés, is on a mission to give value to the concept of waste by using high-quality fabrics to create one-of-a-kind decorative cushions.

“For us at AdR the concept of uniqueness is a keyword, because we move away from mass production and quantity, to follow craftsmanship and limited production. Uniqueness is also a value that we wish to promote beyond our production, as a standard of beauty (the value of one’s unique identity) and a cornerstone of biodiversity (the combination of many uniqueness),” said Atelier des Refusés.

The partnership with Stratasys allows Atelier des Refusés to add further exceptionality to its cushions while maintaining its core values of uniqueness and zero waste. The 3D printing technology provided by Stratasys ensures a sustainable, exclusive, and high-quality product with no production waste.

“When we met Stratasys, the world leader in the 3D printing sector, it was love at first sight for us: it is a cutting-edge company that allows us to add further exceptionality to our cushions, and this happens in harmony with some of our priority values such as uniqueness and zero waste,” said Atelier des Refusés.

The velvet fabrics for the Biodiversity 3D printed pillow collection are supplied by C&C Milano and Christian Fischbacher. Atelier des Refusés collaborates with leading textile companies to repurpose “waste” materials, or fabric pieces too small for commercial use, promoting a circular economy approach.

The Biodiversity collection will be on display at the new flagship store of Breitling, a Swiss watch manufacturer and partner for Milan Design Week, from April 18 to 22, 2023. The cushions are available for purchase at Atelier des Refusés’ website.
