3DPrinterOS, an end-to-end 3D printer management solution provider, has appointed Michelle Bockman as its new CEO. Bockman, who previously served as HP’s General Manager and Global Head of 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing – Automotive & High-Value Applications, has extensive experience in the additive world and will lead 3DPrinterOS into its next phase of growth to drive enterprise adoption.
Dimension Inx, a biofabrication company developing regenerative medical products, announced two new appointments to its Board of Directors. Veteran medical device executives Dianne Hayes Blanco and James Koziarz, Ph.D., join company founders Caralynn Nowinski Collens, M.D., Adam Jakus, Ph.D., and Ramille Shah, Ph.D., becoming the company’s first outside directors.
Essentium and ECD have created a next-generation moisture-controlled cabinet, the DryBox, to store and protect 3D printing filaments. The partnership leverages ECD’s experience with dry storage systems; Essentium provides an established client base in the additive manufacturing space. The partnership is another step toward dependable industrial-grade AM applications.
After finalizing operations in Japan, DfAM design software specialist nTopology has now signed a new reseller partnership with engineering solutions provider Harvestance for the market in South Korea. Harvestance is one of the leading DfAM experts in the region with years of experience across various roles in the industry.
thyssenkrupp is extending its gains in marine additive manufacturing by signing a letter of intent as a prelude to entering a joint venture with Wilhemsen Ships Services for custom manufacturing marine parts. The companies will collaborate on delivering maritime spare parts using 3D printing. thyssenkrupp, which already deploys additive manufacturing at its operations on the Kiel Fjord in Germany, joins with Wilhemsen’s experience in civil marine repairs. The joint venture facilitates repairs on older vessels. The companies expect to headquarter this effort in Singapore. The joint venture positions the companies as the world leader in maritime AM.
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many industries have been impacted including choirs, music classes and concerts. Social distancing requirements have restricted gatherings that affect communities and people’s livelihoods. Public solutions often include wearing masks and hand sanitization to help reduce the spread of the virus. Most off the shelf masks are used for medical or respiratory safe environments. A new 3D printed vocal mask has been developed specifically for choirs and music classes allowing the user to sing unobstructed.
CollPlant Biotechnologies and United Therapeutics Corporation are expanding their ongoing collaboration with the exercise by United Therapeutics of its option to cover a second lifesaving organ: human kidneys. United Therapeutics paid CollPlant $3 million for the option exercise.
Dutch companies Nedcam and RoyalDSM announced a sustainable additive manufacturing partnership that leverages Nedcam’s new Flexbot robotic 3D printer and Royal’s pellet materials. The partnership continues both companies’ interest in sustainable manufacturing via circular designs and processes.
Orbital Composites and ORNL (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) have signed a cooperative research and development agreement to develop out-of-plane, robotic polymer and composite additive manufacturing (AM) technology. The agreement builds upon Orbital Composites’ novel ORB platform for robotic neat polymer and continuous-fiber additive manufacturing platform and ORNL’s expertise in materials science and scaling-up AM systems.
British digital metal solutions company Alloyed and German materials manufacturer TANIOBIS have entered into a partnership through which they will identify, develop, manufacture and use high quality titanium and refractory alloy metal powders for additive and other advanced manufacturing applications. The companies will be presenting their new collaboration at the upcoming (and all virtual) Formnext Connect event.
