Strata Manufacturing PJSC (Strata), the advanced composite aero-structures manufacturing company, wholly owned by Mubadala Development Company, and Reliance Defence Limited (RDL), a wholly owned Subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Limited, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advanced aerospace manufacturing capabilities between India and the United Arab Emirates.
Shining3D, a 3D scanning and 3D printing solutions company based in China, and PrintLab, a global distributor of 3D printing products based in the UK, have signed a strategic partnership to distribute the award winning EinScan range of scanners through PrintLab partners in over 20 countries including: Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Turkey and South Africa amongst others.
At the Open House at DECKEL MAHO in Pfronten industrial manufacturing machinery giant DMG MORI announced the acquisition of a 50.1% stake in German SLM 3D printer manufacturer Realizer. The two companies presented the new LASERTEC 30 SLM metal 3D printer, a new machine for powder bed application based on Realizer’s SLM300i model.
After a strong fourth quarter, GE-owned, Sweden-based EBM 3D printer manufacturer Arcam closed fiscal year 2016 with net sales of 648.3 million Swedish Krona (MSEK) or about $US 72 million, a 12.5% growth. Operating losses amounted to 29.8 MSEK, however the underlying operating income amounted to 15.0 MSEK after adjustments for non-recurring costs.

After conducting market research into applications of the company’s technology to the field of 3D bioprinting, the company has chosen to focus primarily on solutions for end stage kidney disease (“ESRD”), which leads to kidney failure.
Global safety science organization UL, and Ricoh USA, a technology and services company which has recently entered the industrial AM market with an SLS system, are collaborating to provide additive manufacturing education training to both UL and Ricoh customers. The initial goal of the relationship is to promote the proper usage and advancement of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies via UL AM training that leverages Ricoh’s proven services and training expertise. The program will initially be held at Ricoh’s US-based dedicated training locations and then will scale to other geographies in the Americas.

Oxford Performance Materials, Inc. (OPM), a leader in advanced materials science and high performance additive manufacturing (HPAM), today announced that it has closed on an additional round of strategic investment from Hexcel Corporation. In May 2016, OPM and Hexcel announced an initial strategic investment from Hexcel of $15 million. The second round of investment from Hexcel is $10 million, for a total equity investment of $25 million to date.
Desktop Metal, an emerging startup with the mission to bring metal 3D printing to all design and manufacturing teams, announced today it has raised a total of $97 million in equity funding since its founding in October 2015. The announcement comes as the result of the latest Series C investment of $45 million, led by GV (formerly Google Ventures), as well as BMW i Ventures and Lowe’s Ventures. Desktop Metal will use the funding to continue to develop its technology and scale production as the company prepares for its product launch later this year.
