Xaar PLC, a supplier of industrial inkjet printheads, has just announced it has launched a new 3D printing company, Xaar 3D Limited, in a joint investment with Stratasys. The newly formed company will reportedly be developing additive manufacturing solutions based on High Speed Sintering technology.
Desktop Metal has announced that Jeffrey Immelt, the former Chairman and CEO of the General Electric Company, has been elected to its Board of Directors. The metal 3D printing company, which already comprises some illustrious and innovative members, says it seeks to benefit from Immelt’s over 40 years of experience in global business and technology.
Xometry, the largest on-demand manufacturing platform, has acquired MakeTime, another leading on-demand manufacturing company. This acquisition brings together the country’s two top manufacturing network platforms. The combined company will operate under the Xometry brand name and have offices in Maryland and Kentucky.
3D printed electronics specialist Nano Dimension has partnered with one of China’s leading AM distributors, AURORA Group. The partnership, which marks Nano Dimension’s entry onto the Chinese market, will see AURORA Group market and sell the company’s DragonFly 2020 Pro 3D printer to customers in China.
BASF New Business GmbH (BNB) has acquired all the shares of Advanc3D Materials GmbH in Hamburg and Setup Performance SAS in Lyon. Following the acquisition of Dutch filament maker Innofil3D last year, this marks yet another major step forward in BASF’s strategy to occupy the 3D printing materials market, making moves in polymers, ceramics and bioink segments – including being a part of HP’s 3D printing materials developers.
AM leader EOS has announced it will be partnering with German startup Additive Works to advance the metal additive manufacturing process through the further development of Amphyon, Additive Works’ simulation-based pre-processing software for AM. The software solution is capable of virtually simulating the AM build process and identifying potential problem areas in a part’s design before going to printing, saving users both time and production costs.
In a joint project focusing on incorporating 3D printing technologies into the production of plastic injection molds, Prodways Technologies, Openlab by Schneider Electric and the Platinium 3D platform are teaming up to accelerate the development cycle of industrial products.
