Velo3D to qualify Praxair TruForm metal powders for Sapphire AM system Additive Manufacturing

California-based metal AM company Velo3D has announced a partnership with Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc. (PST), a producer of premium specialty alloy-based powders for the aerospace and other industrial markets. Through the agreement, Velo3D will establish process parameters for new alloys with Praxair’s TruForm powders and will qualify the company as a supplier of metal powder for its AM solutions.

Mediated Matter Lab reveals details on glass 3D printing tech Research & Education

For some time now, MIT’s Mediated Matter Lab has been working on developing an additive manufacturing platform capable of printing 3D structures made from glass. Despite having become something of a ubiquitous material in the 19th century thanks to new manufacturing innovations in the Industrial Revolution, glass has remained a tricky material in terms of fabricating complex geometries or custom shapes. In its research, the Mediated Matter Lab has set out to find a solution to these challenges.

Nano Dimension expands EMEA presence in Benelux and Israel AM Industry

Nano Dimension, a leading provider of electronics 3D printers (and the only provider of material jetting-based electronic 3D printers), signed two more resellers within the EMEA region to market Nano Dimension’s DragonFly Pro additive manufacturing platform for printed electronics. The new companies will serve the Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg (Benelux) region and Israel. Belgium-based SEIDO Systems and Israel-based SU-PAD thus join Nano Dimension’s thriving partner ecosystem across the globe, with distribution partnerships recently signed in North America and Asia (APAC) as well. In addition, Nano Dimension announced that SEIDO Systems will purchase a DragonFly Pro system, which will be used for demonstrations and for training.

Aleph Objects targets growth in 2019 with appointment of new CEO and CTO AM Industry

Aleph Objects, Inc., known for its LulzBot 3D printing products, today appointed a new CEO and CTO as it sets its sights on continued growth in the additive manufacturing market. Grant Flaharty, the president of Aleph Objects will take up the role of CEO (while staying on as president) and Steven Abadie, a member of the Aleph Objects team since its founding in 2011, has been promoted to CTO.

Optomec acquires Huffman a leader in metal additive manufacturing for repair AM Industry

Optomec has acquired Huffman, a North Carolina company that has established a leadership in supplying 3D metal printing systems for additive repair of gas turbine components in the energy and aviation markets. Huffman’s equipment and software are in production at virtually all major manufacturers of aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines, who use its metal deposition capabilities to restore worn or damaged components at substantially lower cost than newly-made spare parts.
