A seal, or a printing stamp, is used in lieu of signatures in personal documents, office paperwork. Traditional Chinese seals are typically made of stone, sometimes of metals, wood, bamboo, plastic, or ivory.
Making stamps is painstaking and costly work, especially carving seals with complicated patterns for wealthy and powerful people. But with 3D printing technology, making models with intricate details and smooth surface is nothing difficult.
Solution
Step 1: 3D modeling within the restrictions of the material and technology. The height of the pattern should be at least 1mm. For such a high-resolution product, we recommend using LCD printing technology and Ultra Detail Resin.
Step 2: There are many overhangs on the dragon statues and enough supports are needed. Here is a tip: in order not to break the characters on the seal, we add a raft on the bottom.
Step 3: Cut off the supports carefully with scissors and wash the print with IPA, then post-cure it with UV. Different coatings can make it simulates other textures like metal, stone, wood, etc.
