About Project
This stunning ColorJet 3D-printed masterpiece is a true testament to the power and versatility of additive manufacturing. The main body of the Jeep is meticulously crafted from sandstone, capturing the iconic vehicle's ruggedness and intricate details with exceptional precision. The use of ColorJet technology allows for a vibrant olive-green finish, adding a touch of realism to the model.
But the magic doesn't stop there! What truly sets this Jeep apart is the ingenious combination of materials and techniques. The lights, rearview mirrors, and grill accessories are printed using SLA Generic Resin, resulting in a contrasting yet complementary effect. The smooth, glossy finish of the resin beautifully complements the textured sandstone, creating a visually striking and uniquely tactile experience.
This steerable Jeep model is not just a display piece; it's a celebration of innovation and craftsmanship. It showcases the potential of 3D printing to go beyond the ordinary, pushing the boundaries of design and functionality.

Solution
- Step 1: Designing the Model.
The digital model of the Jeep was created using CAD software, ensuring all details were included for both the sandstone and resin parts. - Step 2: Printing the Main Body with ColorJet.
A thin layer of sandstone powder was spread over the build platform.
Color binder was selectively jetted from inkjet print heads, solidifying the powder.
The build platform was lowered, and the process repeated, layer by layer, until the main body of the Jeep was formed. - Step 3: Printing the Accessories with SLA Generic Resin.
The build platform was positioned in a tank of liquid photopolymer resin.
A UV laser cured the resin, solidifying it layer by layer to form the lights, rearview mirrors, and grill accessories. - Step 4: Post-Processing.
Excess powder was removed from the ColorJet printed parts.
The SLA printed parts underwent washing and curing to remove any uncured resin and to solidify the final parts. - Step 5: Assembly.
The resin accessories were carefully attached to the sandstone body.
Wheels were integrated, completing the assembly of the Jeep model. - Step 6: Finishing Touches.
The model was inspected for any imperfections.
Final touches were applied, enhancing the special effect where the two materials clashed.
