About Project

The statue is a gift our client ordered for her boyfriend. She sent us some photos of him and also a picture of a fairy lady as references, hoped our modeler can create a pair of fairy wings for him. We totally got her idea and built these beautiful wings! Printed with SLA technology and painted by our experienced painter, this 10cm-high statue costs about $600.

Solution

  • Step 1: Build the 3D model based on the photos, add details and adjust the model until the client is consent. In the first version, we create a pair of angel wings, and after the client offers the reference picture, here comes the fairy wings.
  • Step 2: For the convenience of post-processing, we split the wings from the man’s body, add supporting structures and arrange the placement of the models.
  • Step 3: For such a small statue, the layer thickness of 0.05 mm is enough for showing all the details. As for his beard and eyes and the spots on his wings, the performance is more relying on the painter’s skills.
  • Step 4: 3D print the models with SLA Generic Resin using our industrial 3D printer. UV-cured resin prints display fine details, sharp edges and a smooth finish, and they are easily paintable.
  • Step 5: Rinse the model with IPA and post-cure with UV. Then spray with putty and carefully polish it to remove the marks. Paint the model with specified colors.
