About Project

The client ordered 4 pieces of the 5″ tall 3D printed statues of a deer and a warrior. As he has no special requirements for materials, we recommend the most commonly used SLA Generic Resin.
Usually, our clients would hollow the statues and make the wall thickness 2mm to lessen the weight, the printing cost, and the shipping cost. The hollowed statue costs nearly half of the solid statue.
Besides, the layer thickness of 0.05 mm would result in a more smooth surface than 0.1 mm, but the price will be higher.
The client finally chose to print solid statues with a layer thickness of 0.1 mm.

Solution

  • Step 1: The client sent the STL files to us via a CloudDrive link. Our engineer checked the file, make sure the model does not need to be scaled up or down, and then recommend a suitable material, then give the quotes of solid and hollowed parts.
  • Step 2: After the client made sure about size, material, the inner structure, and desired surface, we feed the STL file into a slicer software.
  • Step 3: 3D print the models together with the necessary supports using SLA Generic Resin.
  • Step 4: Take out the models from the platform, cut off the supports and rinse with IPA.
  • Step 5: Pack the statues after post-curing process.
