• Step 1: The 3D model was uploaded to FacFox鈥檚 website and processed by their 3D printer software, which packed the model efficiently in the build chamber.
• Step 2: A wheelable build unit was inserted into the HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer, which was filled with MJF Full-color Nylon powder, a special type of nylon powder that can be mixed with different color pigments.
• Step 3: A layer of powder was applied over the print area by the printer. A fusing agent, a detailing agent, and color pigments were selectively deposited on the powder layer by an inkjet array. The fusing agent marked the areas that needed to be solidified, while the detailing agent improved the surface finish and resolution of the edges. The color pigments created a gradient of colors on the powder layer, matching the design of the 3D model.
• Step 4: The print area was heated by an infrared light source, which fused the powder particles where the fusing agent was applied. The color pigments were also fused into the solid layer, resulting in a full-color 3D printed model.
