A scoliosis brace is a stiff plastic jacket that fits around the torso, from underneath the arms down to the hips. It has straps to keep it in place and straighten the spine. Usually we print the brace using Nylon powder with SLS 3D printing technology, which can lessen its weight largely by applying honeycomb structure.

Solution

• Step 1: The doctor will CT scan the patients’ body to learn the curvature of their spines, then design custom scoliosis brace for each of them.
• Step 2: Our engineer will check the 3D model, sometimes may help hollowing the model to cut down the weight.
• Step 3: With SLS 3D printing technology, printing the brace with Nylon powder requires no supporting structure.
• Step 4: Polish the brace after printing to make the patient feel more comfortable.
