About Project

Kōdō is the art of appreciating Japanese incense, which was also popular in ancient China. Now there is a renaissance of traditional customs. Our client designed and developed this electric incense burner and found us to make the prototype. Electric burner has the advantages like constant temperatures and timing function. The cover of the burner has heart-shaped hollows, which aims to catch the young consumers.

Solution

  • Step 1: Check the models of the burner, its cover, and the base. Add support structure and arrange the placement in slicer software.
  • Step 2: We 3D print the models using SLA Generic Resin in 0.05mm. We recommend using this material for smaller, detailed products simply for display use.
  • Step 3: Remove the supports and rinse the model with IPA. Then post-cure it under UV. Use sandpaper to remove bumps and marks.
  • Step 4: Spray the burner’s body and cover using white paint and UV-oil to mimic the finish of ceramics. Brush the base and the buttons using wood grain paint and metallic paint.
