About Project

Bears have a range of fishing techniques. They sometimes wait and watch the water before pinning down a passing fish, or they may simply dive and chase their prey.
The hollowed bear statue is 3D printed with 12 pieces of ABS prints. Although we can print the whole statue in one piece with our FDM 3D printer, the client insisted to split them. So it felt like a 3D jigsaw when fixing all the prints together.

Solution

  • Step 1: Arrange the placement of all the split parts and the machine models in the slicer. 3D print the pot and machine with white ABS filament.
  • Step 2: When printing finished, cut off the supports, put the green parts into a glass container that has enough acetone. Close the container lid for 10-20 minutes so that the vapor can melt the outer layer of the parts. Then wash them and let them dry.
