About Project

We're thrilled to unveil our latest 3D printing masterpiece: a quartet of life-size sitting cat statues! These feline friends are meticulously crafted using SLA 3D printing technology, capturing every intricate detail of their fur, from the soft undercoat to the sleek outer layer.

Two elegant British Longhair cats and two charming British Shorthair cats grace our collection. Each statue is rendered in a sleek grey resin that beautifully complements their forms. To enhance their realism, their eye sockets are hollowed out to accommodate captivating glass cat eyes, while tiny holes mark the spots for delicate fake beards.

These statues are not just sculptures; they are works of art that bring a touch of feline elegance to any space. Imagine these lifelike companions gracing your living room, garden, or office, sparking conversations and delighting cat lovers everywhere.

Solution

  • Step 1: Design Creation. The 3D models of two British long hair and two British short hair cats were created using Blender.
  • Step 2: Slicing. The 3D models were sliced into thin layers using specialized slicing software.
  • Step 3: Preparation. The SLA 3D printer was prepared by filling the vat with grey SLA Tough Resin.
  • Step 4: Printing. The sliced layers were sent to the SLA printer, where a UV laser selectively cured the resin layer by layer to build the statues.
  • Step 5: Detailing. All the fur textures and intricate details were printed with high precision.
  • Step 6: Eye Sockets. The eye sockets were hollowed out during the printing process to allow for the assembly of glass cat eyes later.
  • Step 7: Beard Holes. Small holes were printed where the cats usually have beards, to facilitate the insertion of fake beards.
  • Step 8: Post-Processing. The printed statues were removed from the printer and cleaned to remove any excess resin.
  • Step 9: Curing. The statues were then post-cured under UV light to ensure complete hardening of the resin.
  • Step 10: Finishing. Any remaining supports were removed, and the surfaces were sanded and polished to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Step 11: Assembly. The glass cat eyes were assembled into the hollowed eye sockets.
  • Step 12: Final Touches. Fake beards were inserted into the small holes to complete the statues.
