Fake food models are commonly used in restaurant street displays in East Asian countries to represent the dishes available inside. A fake food model used to be made using a mold, and the mold is created by dipping real food into the silicone. Now we could directly build the 3D model or scan the real food. Painting is always the crucial process.
Solution
Step 1: The Baozi model needs to be hollowed so the lights can transmit the whole model. So we add the vent holes for the convenience of support removal.
Step 2: We arrange the parts in software and add necessary supports. Then 3D print them with SLA Generic Resin in one piece. The layer thickness we set is 0.05mm and we control the tolerance within 卤0.1 mm.
Step 3: When printing is completed, rinse the models with IPA and post-cure them with UV. Cut off all the supports, glue the vent hole, spray with putty, then polish with sandpaper.
