About Project

This giant elephant statue is ordered by a coffee shop owner. They import coffee beans from Thailand and hope to impress customers with the elephant, which is the symbol of thailand. We first printed a small mock-up sample of the low-poly 3D model, then produced the full-scale statue with large-format 3D printer.

Solution

• Step 1: Cut down the size of the model. 3D print the mock-up with SLA Generic Resin for our client to verify the appearance.
• Step 2: When the design is passed, we split the model and print the parts with SLA Durable Resin.
• Step 3: Common post-processes like support removal, putty filling, sanding and polishing. Then we glue the parts together and enhance with fiber glass and steel.
• Step 4: Screen print the coffee shop logo and the Thail pattern onto the statue.
