About Project

This is a pair of PLA parts made with desktop FDM 3D printers. Although you can tap and drill on FDM prints, printing the parts directly with holes is also feasible. Fixing the 3D printer is necessary to get 3D printing perfect circles because this issue may ruin your whole project wasting your time and filament as well.

Solution

  • Step 1: As the parts have some holes, we need to consider the shrinkage rate and avoid overhang structure. Necessary supports are added to prevent transformation.
  • Step 2: Here we print the parts with FDM 3D printing technology using FDM PLA, which is the most cost-effective solution for this application.
  • Step 3: Take the prints from the plane. Adding a raft or skirt would make this process easier.
  • Step 4: Polish the prints manually with grater and sandpaper to remove the remaining marks.
