About Project

The client intended to make a simple appearance model in the beginning, and changed his mind after seeing other prototypes we made that have moveable structures. The outer and inner structures are printed separately, and the petals on the top are connected to the main body with soft rubber wires.

Solution

  • Step 1: We check the model and suggest the client split the parts for a better display effect. The model was split into outer layer, inner layer, petals and other tiny parts.
  • Step 2: We hollow the parts, arrange them in software and add necessary supports. Then 3D print them with SLA Generic Resin. The layer thickness we set is 0.05mm and we control the tolerance within 卤0.1 mm.
  • Step 3: When printing is completed, rinse the models with IPA and post-cure them with UV. Cut off all the supports and marks with scissors and graters, then polish with sandpaper. Spray with putties to make the surface better.
  • Step 4: Paint the parts with airbrushes and wool brushes according to the blueprints. Then cover them with a thin layer of matte acrylic oil. Attach the PVC stickers to the surface. Glue the parts together into one piece, and connect the petals with the main body with hoses.
