About Project

A substation is a part of an electrical generation, transmission, and distribution system. Substations transform voltage from high to low, or the reverse, or perform any of several other important functions. Between the generating station and consumer, electric power may flow through several substations at different voltage levels. A substation may include transformers to change voltage levels between high transmission voltages and lower distribution voltages, or at the interconnection of two different transmission voltages.

3D modeling of the transformer substation is more focused on the external structure and shape of power equipment in order that staffs can zone security areas and understand the environment of the substation easily.

In this case, the designers and engineers offered the STL files, and they revised the model according to our advice. The sandbox model is so large and so complicated that we sliced the model and printed all the small parts separately with SLA 3D printers. The parts are then painted and fixed onto the plate.

Solution

  • Step 1: Revise and examine the 3D models, and ensure they are printable.
  • Step 2: Slice the models, and print them through the SLA 3D printing method.
  • Step 3: Post-cure the models, then polish and paint them, assemble the models onto the board.
