About Project

The Wandering Earth is a science fiction film, loosely based on the book by Liu Cixin. Some fans built the scaled-down replica with Lego bricks and here is one made with desktop FDM 3D printers.

Solution

• Step 1: The armed vehicle miniature model was built with reference to some screenshots of the movie. For the convenience of printing, the vehicle is built into different parts.
• Step 2: Arrange the placement of the 3D models in software and 3D print them with FDM 3D printing technology using FDM PLA filament.
• Step 3: Take the print from the plane. Adding a raft or skirt would make this process easier.
• Step 4: Polish the prints manually with grater and sandpaper to remove the remaining marks. Paint the prints into black and red. Assemble all the parts together.
