Human being has never ceased the fantasy for exploring the moons. In this case, the client has designed an astronaut, deep in thought and sitting on the moon. The size of the statue exceeds the maximum printing ability of our industrial SLA 3D printer, so we need to split the models.

Solution

• Step 1: Split the model so the convenience of printing and post-processing. Then add supporting structure onto the models and arrange the placement.
• Step 2: 3D print the moon parts, the astronaut, his face shield and buttons with our industrial SLA 3D printer, the build volume of which is 2400*800*800mm. As the statue is exhibited indoors, we recommend printing with SLA Durable Resin.
• Step 3: Break the supports and polish with sandpaper to remove marks and bumps. Wash the face shield and buttons with IPA and then vacuum plate them after air drying.
• Step 4: Glue all the parts together. Reinforce the moon and the astronaut with steel.
