About Project

Great football legends can be immortalized in a variety of ways, and both statues and monuments fall into that category. A football club, Shanghai SIPG, owned by a real estate company in Shanghai, paid for this statue of their most valuable staff: Oscar dos Santos Emboaba J煤nior, a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder.

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) just finished the building of the first football-themed flats, attracting a lot of football fans. SIPG arranged for fans to watch the Chinese Football Association Super League competition just in the flat selling office. The statue of Oscar was standing aside from the screen so fans could take photos freely.

Solution

  • Step 1: Our designer builds the model with reference to a famous photo of Oscar’s scoring. The 1:1 statue is too big for our large-format industrial SLA 3D printers, so that we need to split the model first. Joint structures are added for the connection of different pieces. The model is hollowed out to save the material cost as well as reduce the weight of the statue.
  • Step 2: 3D print the head, the arms, the legs, the feet, etc., with SLA Tough Resin. Rinse the parts with IPA to remove uncured materials from the surface. Post cure the parts with UV.
  • Step 3: Roughly paint the parts. Fix the lower parts into the base, and connect them with other pieces. Then carefully color the statue with brushes.
