About Project
This set of beautifully detailed miniature heads and terrain tiles was produced for a board game project using Full-Color Material Jetting (WJP) technology. Although the exact game remains unidentified, the pieces show clear evidence of a thoughtfully designed world – featuring architectural landscapes, stone formations, greenery, and expressive character heads.
The terrain models display rich surface textures, simulating earth, water, and vegetation, while the heads capture realistic skin tones and hair gradients at an impressive scale of only a few centimeters. Both were printed directly in color, with no post-painting required.
Such models are ideal for:
- Board games and tabletop RPGs featuring realistic characters and environments.
- Architectural dioramas where color accuracy is critical.
- Collectible figurines and character design prototypes requiring lifelike detail.
Bring Your Game to Life with FacFox
FacFox offers industrial-grade full-color 3D printing services using WJP, CJP, and PolyJet technologies to produce vibrant, texture-rich models directly from digital files. Whether you’re developing a board game, figurine series, or architectural prototype, FacFox can turn your concept into a tangible, professional-grade model – with colors that look exactly as you imagined.
Solution
- Step 1: 3D Model Preparation. Each digital file was checked for mesh integrity and texture alignment. Full-color textures were embedded in the model using UV mapping to ensure seamless transitions between facial tones, rock surfaces, and foliage.
- Step 2: Material Jetting Printing. Using a WJP full-color printer, layers of photopolymer resin or composite powder were precisely jetted and cured with UV light, blending CMYK colors to recreate subtle variations in tone. The process produces vivid hues and smooth transitions unmatched by single-material printing.
- Step 3: Post-Processing. The parts were carefully cleaned and sealed to preserve color saturation and prevent surface chalking, a common issue in gypsum-based full-color prints. The result is durable, visually striking miniatures ideal for display or high-fidelity prototyping.
