A surgeon ordered this transparent bone as a display model to be put in his office. The bone model is solid inside so the price might be a little expensive. The model is very helpful when he explains about how the biomedical devices aid doctors in repairing severely broken bones. They can learn that pins, plates, rods, and screws are common to repair fractures.
The model is printed in transparent photosensitive resin and looks quite clear after fine polishing and lubricated with mineral oil.

Solution

• Step 1: 3D modeling after communication with the surgeon.
• Step 2: 3D printing with transparent resin by SLA printer.
• Step 3: Sandblasting, polishing, and oil spraying.
• Step 4: Assembling with steel plates and nails.
