Some analog lovers have ingeniously turned the old folding Polaroid into instax cameras with a 3D printed back. It breathed new life into these old cameras, and made instant photography more interesting.
Solution
Step 1: The original designer has obtained the high-precision 3D scans of the Polaroid camera, and built the 3D model of the back case. The client sends the model to us and consults about which material and technology are most recommended for his requirements.
Step 2: Before printing, we need to fill the tank with PA 12 powders, which is often used to produce complex assemblies with a fine smooth surface. On a bed pressure, a 0.1 mm thick layer over the whole width is applied.
Step 3: Pre-heat the machine to about 100掳C, and the laser will light the powder and increases the temperature just above the melting point of the powders.
Step 4: After a layer is formed, the platform will lower down and produce another layer.
Step 5: When the printing process ends, remove the excess powders which also serve as supports.
Step 6: The client receives the well-packaged camera back and assembles them together with the other optical parts.
