About Project

If you’ve ever watched any of the Marvel films so far, you’ve definitely noticed Thor and all his glory. With his magical hammer in hand, he can use his cosmic power to blow pretty much anyone away. He also has super strength and the ability to fly, including teleporting through outer space. Have you ever dreamed of owning Thor's Hammer? We do, so we print this keycap using DMLS 3D printing technology.

Direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) is an industrial 3D printing process that builds fully functional metal prototypes and production parts. The head of the hammer is printed with titanium alloy, while the keyboard cap and hammer handle are made of aluminum alloy.

Solution

  • Step 1: 3D model the head, and handle of the hammer, and the base below the hammer. The crack in the base can emit light from the keyboard. We design the screw thread structure on all the parts so they can be connected closely.
  • Step 2: Print the head of the hammer with DMLS Titanium. The handle of the hammer and the base are printed with DMLS Aluminum.
  • Step 3: Clear all the excess powder and polish the prints. Assemble these parts together.
