Siemens expands additive manufacturing portfolio through acquisition of Atlas 3D AM Software

Siemens has signed an agreement to acquire Atlas 3D, Inc., a Plymouth, Indiana-based developer of software that works with direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) printers to automatically provide design engineers with the optimal print orientation and requisite support structures for additive parts in near real-time. Atlas 3D will join Siemens Digital Industries Software, where its solutions will expand additive manufacturing capabilities in the Xcelerator portfolio of software.

PostProcess Technologies grows in Europe with two new distributors 3D Printer Hardware

PostProcess Technologies a Buffalo, NY, based provider of automated post-printing solutions for industrial 3D printing, is expanding its European Channel Partner network with the addition of two distributors. CYLAOS, a French-based engineering company specialized in 3D printing industrial deployment, will cover the French market. In the Nordics region, KMC will serve PostProcess’ customer base as a specialist in surface treatment solutions.

3DCeram introduces C3600 Ultimate for ceramics AM mass production 3D Printer Hardware

French-Japanese company 3DCeram Sinto, based in Limoges, is introducing at Formnext its latest 3D printer for advanced ceramics parts production. The new C3600 Ultimate features an impressive build volume of 600x600x300 mm and is capable of processing zirconia, alumina and a range of other materials. The system was developed for mass production of some of the largest advanced ceramic parts, including aerospace components such as satellite mirrors.

GE: faster computing needed for 3D printing to truly benefit from AI AM Software

At the recent AI Accelerator Summit in Boston, Additive Leader at GE Global Research Brent Brunell addressed the growing need for AI-enabled applications within the context of industrial metal 3D printing. With an audience made up of some of the leading hardware and chip innovators in the tech industry, Brunell explained that in order for metal AM to be broadly industrialized, the sector needs faster computing capabilities and more computational power.

PTC to acquire cloud-based online CAD/CAE software provider Onshape AM Software

PTC signed a definitive with Onshape, creators of the first Software as a Service (SaaS) CAD/CAE product development platform. As per the agreement, PTC acquires Onshape for approximately $470 million. The acquisition is expected to accelerate PTC’s ability to attract new customers with a SaaS-based product offering and position the company to capitalize on the inevitable industry transition to SaaS. Pending regulatory approval and satisfaction of other closing conditions, the transaction is expected to be completed in November 2019.
