Sketchfab introduces 3D model CC0 dedication for cultural institutions AM Software

3D content platform Sketchfab made an announcement this week which will see high-quality 3D scans and models of cultural artefacts become more accessible through its platform. In short, cultural organizations using Sketchfab now have the ability to dedicate their 3D models to the Public Domain using a Creative Commons Public Domain identifier (CC0). As part of the announcement, Sketchfab has also unveiled collaborations with 27 cultural institutions from across the world, including the Smithsonian Institution.

New 3D_Evolution Simplifier automatically reduces CAD files for smoother digital factory planning AM Software

In digital factory environments engineers very often face the challenge presented by highly detailed CAD models generating heavy data and therefore preventing smooth handling in factory planning software tools. A new 3D_Evolution Simplifier function now automatically generates envelope geometry, especially for all major visualization tools. Due to the strong reduction in the number of elements, the Simplifier enables smooth and fast processing of large CAD models.

Dassault Systèmes names Xometry as first ‘prime partner’ AM Industry

Software company Dassault Systèmes and manufacturing service provider Xometry are partnering to offer customers an integrated solution for ordering parts that facilitates the production workflow from concept to production. Through the collaboration, engineers using Dassault’s SOLIDWORKS and CATIA platforms will have automatic access to Xometry price quotes through the MAKE Marketplace. The integration enables Dassault Systèmes customers to obtain quotes without leaving the design environment.
