CECIMO, as the European association for additive manufacturing, was requested by the European Commission to address its membership and query if it would be able to aid in producing equipment (for instance, valves or ventilators) that hospitals are lacking due to the COVID19 outbreak in Europe. In particular, the virus outbreak is causing severe shortages of critical medical equipment in hospitals or limited access to essential pieces, in particular valves or ventilators.

Titomic expands TKF distribution in Turkey with BTech AM Industry

Titomic, a metal AM company based in Australia, has signed a distribution agreement with Turkey-based BTech Innovation. As an authorized Titomic partner, BTech Innovation will distribute Titomic Kinetic Fusion (TKF) systems and metal powders to the Turkish market, while also providing local technical support and maintenance services to customers in the aerospace and defense industries, among others.

Sudanese doctor asks for 3D printable respirators in fight against COVID-19 AM Industry

As a result of 3dpbm’s call for help to AM companies providing resources to help fight COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Zahid Fedial, an ER Doctor at the Aljawda hospital in Sudan, reached out to ask for support with respirators. The crisis in the African nation seems to be already much worse than thought. Africa had so far appeared to be somewhat immune to the spread of the virus but it seems that statistics may have been dramatically affected by lack of testing.

Amy Karle uses 3D printing in thought-provoking futurist art Professional Additive Manufacturing

To mark Women’s History month this March, 3D printing company HP is highlighting an ongoing collaboration with artist Amy Karle. ASTM and UL sign international agreement for AM standards Legislation

Standards organization ASTM International and safety certification company Underwriters Laboratories (UL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the goal of building a framework for developing an international, dual-logo ISO and ASTM standard for AM. The agreement marks a significant step in the standardization of additive manufacturing, as it is the first international collaboration of its kind.
