Bioprinting startup Brinter has today announced a partnership with LED Tailor to introduce the new Spectral Blue disinfecting blue light feature embedded in its multi-material 3D bioprinting solution Brinter. The system enables the safe production of e.g. tissue models and drugs, and minimizes the need for separate cleanrooms, making bioprinters more portable and safe.
3D bioprinting firm BICO has announced an initial $1.5 million contract manufacturing deal with regenerative joint replacement start-up Nanochon.

Flashforge’s sub-brand Voxelab is releasing a new beginner-friendly filament extrusion 3D Printer in its Aquila series, the Aquila S2. Priced under $300, the Aquila S2 is a direct driver extruder 3D printer capable of handling temperatures up to 300℃, and printing multiple filament types including flexible materials.
Skåne University Hospital is the first hospital in the world to 3D print a PEEK cranioplasty implant on site for it to be successfully received by a patient. The implant, based on Evonik‘s VESTAKEEP PEEK biomaterial filament, was 3D printed using the ApiumM220 3D printer from the German company Apium. While this is the first reported case of an implant to be 3D printed and implanted in the same hospital location, other companies, such as Lima Corporate, are currently developing on-site 3D printing capabilities for metal implants.
Freemelt has received an order for a Freemelt ONE system from a company in the United States of America with an order value close to $0.5 million US. The EB-PBF system will be used for material development for new applications, and it will be delivered during the first quarter in 2022.
