Most of us don't have an extra-large garage to collect every vehicle we have owned. Making them into scale-down models is more practical. A client downloaded the models of his beloved cars, add the license numbers, and customed 3D printing them. Even when his cars are written off years later, the models would accompany him and keep the memories.
Solution
Step 1: You can find the popular car models on STL sharing websites like Thingiverse and myminifactory, cults3d, etc. Adding the license number onto the plate requires basic 3D modeling skills.
Step 2: Feed an STL file into a 3D slicer software, such as Cura. As required by the client, the model can be printed in one piece, so there is no splitting process.
Step 3: Add supporting structures and 3D print the models with SLA Generic Resin. Considering the scale and the desired coating effect, we set the layer thickness to 0.05mm.
Step 4: Cut off the supports and rinse with IPA. Polish to remove marks. Paint the windows, tires, and bumpers into black. Paint the main bodies into yellow and white.
