- Orange Resin: This vibrant resin makes the caveman pop, highlighting the playful and whimsical nature of the figure. It might be a great choice if you plan on using a lot of contrasting colors in your paint job.
- Gray Resin: The gray resin offers a more neutral base, allowing the finer details of the sculpt to shine through. This could be ideal if you're aiming for a more realistic or nuanced paint scheme.

Solution
- Step 1: Design Creation. Initially, a digital 3D model of the cartoon caveman figure was designed, incorporating a playful and exaggerated aesthetic. The model featured a full head of curly hair, a curly beard and mustache, and an outfit resembling prehistoric animal fur with large cuffs.
- Step 2: Resin Selection. Two types of DLP Ultra Detail Resin, one orange and one grey, were chosen for the printing process to allow for a comparative analysis of the printing effect and suitability for hand painting.
- Step 3: Printer Preparation. The DLP 3D printer was prepared by ensuring the vat was filled with the selected resins. The build platform was calibrated to the correct height above the resin surface.
- Step 4: Layer-by-Layer Printing. The UV laser of the DLP printer was employed to cure the liquid resin. It solidified the resin layer by layer, starting from the bottom and moving upwards, as the build platform lifted.
- Step 5: Model Formation. As the printing progressed, the cartoon caveman figures with the specified details, including the smiling expression and a chicken resting in the jumbled hair, were formed.
- Step 6: Post-Processing. Upon completion of the printing, the figures were carefully removed from the build platform. They were then washed to remove any uncured resin and subsequently cured in a UV chamber to ensure the strength and stability of the parts.
- Step 7: Quality Comparison. The two printed models were then examined to compare the surface quality and detail resolution. This comparison was crucial to determine which resin provided a better foundation for hand painting.
- Step 8: Client Review. Finally, the figures were presented to the client, who assessed the printing effects of both resins and decided on the preferred option for their project.
