Sandstone is one of the few materials capable of full-color 3D prints. It's usually applied with Color Jet 3D printing technology and preferred for making life-like colorful figurines. As shown in the photos, the prints restore the real skin and hair colors, the highlights and shadows. The prints have a gritty surface and are relatively porous. Some people love the stone-like touch.
Solution
Step 1: Import the 3D model to the software and command the 3D printer to start the process after the preparation of core and binder materials.
Step 2: In ZPrinters, an inkjet-like printing head moves across a bed of powder, selectively depositing a liquid binding material in the shape of the section. A fresh layer of powder is spread across the top of the model, and the process is repeated.
Step 3: When the model is complete, the unbound powder is automatically removed. No need to build or remove supports.
Step 4: Coat the model with a layer of varnish. This increases its resistance to humidity, water, and tumblings, and leaves a matte finish.
