Solution

• Step 1: A 3D model of Jinx was created using computer-aided design (CAD) software. The model was then converted into a format that could be read by the ColorJet 3D printer.
• Step 2: The printer was loaded with sandstone powder and colored binder. The printer also had a roller, a platform, and inkjet print heads.
• Step 3: The printer started to print the figurine layer by layer. The roller spread a thin layer of sandstone powder over the platform. The inkjet print heads selectively jetted colored binder over the powder, which fused and colored the part. The platform moved down a layer at a time as the part built up. The process was repeated until the figurine was completed.
• Step 4: The figurine was removed from the printer and cleaned of excess powder. The figurine was then coated with a thin layer of UV protection oil. Finally, the figurine was inspected for quality and packaged for shipping.
