A kettle grill is a spherical charcoal grill that takes its name from the shape. The design was pioneered by the grilling company Weber in 1951, and there are other companies trying to seize the market share.
Its design includes a round lid, a steel cooking grate, and two sets of vents鈥攂ottom vents beneath the charcoal firebox, and top vents in the lid. The picture shows the prototyping process of the grill grate with SLA 3D printing technology.
Solution
Step 1: Check the model of the grill grate. The structure requires little supporting structure. Only the neck of it needs supports as it’s hollow.
Step 2: Import the STL file into the 3D printer and produce it with SLA ABS-like Resin. It has accurate and durable features, suitable for making large models for form & fit testing.
Step 3: Cut off the supports with scissors and wash with IPA. Then post-cure it with UV.
