The transparent crystal dress seems like gems or frozen running water, which used to be referred to in fairy tales. But now it becomes real clothes, worn by the beauty. The masterpiece is born with the help of 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies as well as our client's imagination. The raindrop beads hanging on her crystal dress echo her transparent earrings, hair accessory, and exquisite birthday cake.

Solution

• Step 1: As the transparent dress is designed to be worn together with a white dress, we scan her body with that dress on.
• Step 2: After the 3D scan data is generated, we need to adjust and fix the model and design the crystal dress based on the client’s requirements and drafts.
• Step 3: For the convenience of wearing, our designer splits the model into front and back pieces. The two pieces are connected with thread. The seam is carefully hidden behind the outstretched crystal rings. To hang on the teardrop-shaped beads to the dress, we drill some holes near the dress hem.
• Step 4: After both are consent with the models, we start adding supports and printing with SLA Clear Resin. Our industrial SLA 3D printer is fully competent to print the pieces at this size.
• Step 5: The most challenging part of post-processing for this crystal dress is polishing, especially for the drapes on it. The supports should be removed carefully, and the prints need to be washed with IPA, then the marks and bumps should be polished by hand with great patience.
• Step 6: Assemble the prints after post-curing. Tie the 3D printed drops onto the dress with strings.
