About Project
Behold, a miniature masterpiece: This stunning PolyJet 3D printed oil tank model, encased in a crystal-clear resin cube, is a testament to the incredible capabilities of modern additive manufacturing.
At first glance, it might appear to be a hand-painted, multi-piece model. However, this intricate creation is actually a single, seamless print, showcasing the exceptional detail and color accuracy that PolyJet technology can achieve.
The model features an array of realistic components, including a cylindrical outer shell, intricate piping systems, supporting columns, and even text and labels. These elements combine to create a highly accurate and visually appealing representation of a full-scale oil tank.
When viewed from a different angle, the model reveals its sectional nature, offering a unique perspective on its internal structure. This design choice enhances the overall aesthetic and provides additional insight into the tank's construction.
The transparent resin encasement serves as both a protective barrier and a display case, allowing viewers to appreciate the model from all sides and admire its intricate details.

Solution
- Step 1: Design Creation.聽The full-color oil tank miniature, including the clear encasement, was designed using CAD software. The design incorporated all structural components such as the outer shell, piping, support columns, and text labels.
- Step 2: 3D Printing Setup.聽The design file was uploaded to a PolyJet 3D printer. The printer settings were configured to ensure high resolution and full-color printing, including the clear resin part.
- Step 3: Printing Process.聽The model, along with the clear encasement, was printed in one piece using PolyJet technology. During this process, photopolymer resin was jetted layer by layer, and UV light was used to cure each layer instantly. The outer shell, piping, support columns, text labels, and the clear encasement were all printed layer by layer in the mean time.
- Step 4: Post-Processing.聽Once the printing was completed, the model was removed from the printer. Any support material used during printing was carefully washed away, and the model was polished and sprayed with clear acrylic oil.
- Step 5: Final Inspection.聽The finished product, a sectional oil tank model encased in clear resin, was inspected to ensure the clarity of the resin and the visibility of the model’s intricate details from multiple angles.
