This irregular resin print is made as a prop. 3D printing is widely applied to create cost-effective and realistic movie props. The fantasy drama is about the love story between fairy and devil, and the prop is a hair decoration of the devil.

Solution

• Step 1: This hair decoration is designed and made for a fantasy film character to make the actor look more horrible but not affect his handsomeness. As required by the cast, the decoration needs to be clear and silver.
• Step 2: We arrange the parts in software and add necessary supporting structure. Then 3D print them with SLA Clear Resin. The layer thickness we set is 0.1 mm and we control the tolerance within 卤0.2 mm.
• Step 3: When printing is completed, rinse the models with IPA and post-cure them with UV. Cut off all the supports, then polish with sandpaper. Spray the print with clear acrylic oil, then paint the print with silver paint.
