About Project

Moonlight Blade is a free to play action-packed 3D martial arts MMORPG from Tencent Games, set in a fantasy Wuxia realm of martial arts and mystery. Developed with the help of martial arts movie creators, Moonlight Blade immerses the player in combat which feels like a martial arts film.
We made a model of the most popular game actor, TaiBai, with the help of DLP 3D printing technology. DLP is an excellent method of making objects with high resolution and smoothness, which requires little sanding and polishing handwork. There are so many subtle details on the figurine like the clothes drape, the ornament and belt pattern, the hair texture, etc. They are perfectly reflected after putty filling.
The material we adopt, DLP Ultra HD Resin, has a default layer height of 0.05 mm, and two another optional layer heights of 0.025, and 0.032 mm.
Painting is the most troubling part of the project. The whole figurine, which is 25cm high, is broken down into several parts and modeled separately for the convenience of fine painting.

Solution

• Step 1: 3D modeling based on the model offered by our client.
• Step 2: Printing with a DLP 3D printer using DLP Ultra HD Resin.
• Step 3: Post-processing, includes putty filling, rough painting and fine painting.
• Step 4: Assembling all the parts.
