About Project

The client designed a submarine that aimed to collect the garbage in the ocean and protect the marine creatures. It was composed of many parts and we need to produce them and paint them separately. The post-processing cost a lot but it was worthy.

Solution

  • Step 1: Check the 3D model and add supporting structures. Scale the models to our client’s desired dimensions. As different parts of the model require different painting effect, we split the model into dozens of pieces.
  • Step 2: 3D print the models in one piece with SLA Generic Resin (White), the build volume of which can vary from 5 x 5 x 5 mm to 1700 x 900 x 800 mm. And it can be translucent or transparent or painted with no restrictions, thus becoming the favorable material for printing fine-detail models with smooth surfaces.
  • Step 3: Post-processing. Remove excess materials from the prints, wash them with IPA. Sanding and polishing by hand, and then spray with putties.
  • Step 4: The models are fine-painted by our seasoned painters, who can perfectly present the client’s ideas. The parts are painted to be matte, glossy, or metallic. Then they are assembled into one piece.
