About Project
In the world of heavy industry, the “big picture” often comes in very large, very heavy packages. Whether it鈥檚 a high-output diesel engine or a massive industrial generator set, communicating the intricacies of these machines to clients, stakeholders, or students can be a logistical challenge. This is where high-precision scale models, like the industrial gensets pictured above, become invaluable.
These models serve as more than just desk ornaments; they are sophisticated communication tools. A well-crafted replica allows an engineer to explain the flow of a cooling system, a salesperson to demonstrate a compact footprint, and a technician to visualize the assembly of a turbocharger鈥攁ll without needing a crane or a warehouse. The level of detail achieved today鈥攄own to the fuel injection lines, individual cylinder heads, and manifold bolts鈥攅nsures that the professional integrity of a brand is reflected in every millimeter.
Moving from a digital CAD file to a physical masterpiece requires a blend of advanced technology and artisan finishing. By utilizing additive manufacturing, companies can produce these complex, interlocking geometries with a speed and cost-effectiveness that traditional machining simply cannot match. It allows for rapid iteration, meaning a design change in the morning can be reflected in a physical model in a matter of days.
At FacFox, we specialize in turning these complex engineering visions into tangible reality through our comprehensive suite of manufacturing solutions. While we are a leader in 3D printing services鈥攗tilizing SLA/DLP for smooth aesthetic finishes, SLS for durable prototypes, and DMLS for metal components鈥攐ur expertise doesn’t stop there. We offer a true one-stop-shop experience, integrating CNC Machining, Injection Molding, and Sheet Metal Fabrication to meet any project requirement. Whether you need a singular, highly detailed exhibition model or a small batch of functional parts, FacFox provides the precision, material variety, and professional post-processing needed to accelerate your innovation.
Solution
- Step 1: The CAD designs of the engine block, alternator, and manifolds were optimized and converted into SLA-compatible print files, incorporating fine structural details and specific feature supports.
- Step 2: High-resolution SLA 3D printing was initiated using a proprietary durable blue resin, ensuring the intricate oil and fuel lines were accurately defined.
- Step 3: Printed components were carefully removed from the build plate, and excess resin was thoroughly rinsed away in a specialized alcohol bath.
- Step 4: Supports were delicately removed by hand, and surfaces were painstakingly sanded to eliminate visible layer lines.
- Step 5: Components were subjected to UV light for full curing and hardening before being treated with a high-build primer.
- Step 6: A multi-step painting process was applied, where metallic silver paint was detailed onto the turbocharger and manifolds, and vibrant blue was used for the main block and generator body.
- Step 7: Branding graphics were meticulously designed, then the “绉戠編鎺ц偂” (Cometever Holdings) logo and warning labels were precisely applied as custom-fit waterslide decals.
- Step 8: Sub-assemblies were systematically mated using precision jigs, connecting the engine coupling to the generator shaft before being mounted onto the completed black skid base.
