Metal AM company Velo3D has announced a partnership with PWR Advanced Cooling Technology to develop materials for its Sapphire 3D printing system and to serially produce heat exchangers. Headquartered in Australia, but with offices in the U.S. and UK, PWR is a global supplier of cooling solutions for F1, NASCAR and other racing series as well as automotive OEMs and the military and aerospace industries.
Additive manufacturing has the potential to reach true industrial scale. Propelling it toward that goal are innovations in materials, hardware and software, but holding it back are regulatory and technical challenges yet to be overcome. These innovations and challenges will be the focus of the third annual Munich Technology Conference on Additive Manufacturing, MTC3, taking place October 8–10 at the Technical University of Munich in Germany.
Cubicure, an Austrian supplier of industrial polymers for additive manufacturing, has announced a strategic R&D partnership with specialty chemicals company Evonik through which they will develop and bring to market highly viscous polyester resins for Cubicure’s Hot Lithography (HL) technology.
FATHOM, an advanced manufacturer with expertise in 3D printing and additive manufacturing, has been acquired by CORE Industrial Partners (“CORE”), a Chicago-based private equity firm. The acquisition will bring together FATHOM and Midwest Composite Technologies (“MCT”), acquired by CORE in 2018, to form one of the largest privately-held digital manufacturing service providers in North America.
Continuous Composites and Arkema are partnering, through the chemical giant’s Sartomer business line, to combine Continuous Composites’ patented continuous fiber 3D (CF3D) printing technology with Arkema’s cutting edge photocurable resin solutions, thus providing many interesting new options for continuous fiber composite AM.
Renishaw, a UK-based specialist in metal AM, is reportedly considering a potential reorganization and consolidation of its additive manufacturing business by co-locating its AM engineering, marketing and commercial activities at its New Mills headquarters in Gloucestershire, England. If the plan goes ahead, the production of AM systems will continue at Renishaw’s Miskin site near Cardiff, South Wales.
GE Additive is today inaugurating a new 40,000-square-meter campus in Lichtenfels, Germany, which will become the new official home for GE Additive Concept Laser. The new Bavarian facility, called GE Additive Lichtenfels, will help the additive manufacturing specialist to meet growing customer demands and transition into additive serial production.
Stratasys today announced it will be increasing its stake in Xaar 3D Ltd., a company founded last year by the 3D printing giant in collaboration with Xaar PLC, a supplier of industrial inkjet printheads. Stratasys now holds a 15% stake in the company and plans to increase it to 45%, with Xaar PLC owning the remaining 55% through its fully owned subsidiary Xaar 3D Holdings.
Veering from its recent cycling-related announcements, 3D printing company Carbon is launching a new premium digitally printable denture workflow and material system in partnership with Dentsply Sirona, a leading manufacturer of professional dental products. The new workflow and material system significantly improve the process of 3D printing dental prostheses as well as the quality of the dentures.
3D ExchangeNet (3DX), a Cleveland, Ohio based intermediary that aims to reshape the 3D marketplace, and 3D Alliances from Israel, which specializes in the deployment of global channel networks for innovative 3D printing companies, announced today a new collaboration agreement. Through this partnership, both parties will assist companies in the additive manufacturing/3D printing industry that are seeking funding to accelerate inorganic business growth, as well as with mergers and acquisitions.
