Magnus Bergman appointed as new CEO of VBN Components AM Industry

Swedish company VBN Components AB, known for its extremely wear and heat resistant Vibenite alloys, has appointed Magnus Bergman as its new CEO. Magnus Bergman has a master’s degree in Materials Science from KTH and has held several roles within the Sandvik Group with a focus on R&D, international sales, and management. He also has broad experience in the heat treatment industry and the machinery industry.

Henkel’s Loctite resins available on Prodways’ ProMaker LD AM Industry

Henkel has entered a collaboration with a new ecosystem partner, Prodways – a French manufacturer of DLP 3D printing technologies, known for their patented DLP MOVINGLight (MovingLight) technology. With this new collaboration, Prodways users can access Loctite’s high-performance 3D printing resins on the company’s ProMaker industrial platform to further enable the production of ultra-precise parts.

Quickparts acquires Xcentric Mold & Engineering AM Industry

Quickparts, an on-demand manufacturing services offering custom 3D printing and traditional manufacturing capabilities, and a portfolio company of Trilantic North America formed in partnership with George Votis, Avi Reichental and Ziad Abou, has acquired Xcentric Mold & Engineering (“Xcentric”), an innovator of on-demand digital manufacturing. Terms of the transaction, considered to be highly strategic, were not disclosed.

NGK to co-develop ceramic materials for Sakuu’s printed batteries Industrial Additive Manufacturing

Sakuu, the developer of one of the world’s first 3D printed solid-state batteries, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japan’s NGK Spark Plugs CO., LTD., a global leader in electrochemical materials and a tier-one industrial automotive supplier. Under the MOU, NGK will co-develop and provide ceramic materials for Sakuu’s solid-state battery production – ranging from ongoing battery material needs at its California pilot line facility, to at-scale commercialization for its additively manufactured solid-state battery line, which is anticipated to go to market in 2023.

Essentium and Braskem enter sustainable materials partnership AM Industry

Essentium, Inc., a worldwide leader in industrial additive manufacturing, has partnered with Braskem, one of the largest polyolefins producers in the Americas and a market leader and pioneer producer of biopolymers on an industrial scale, to offer manufacturers a fully integrated AM machine and materials solution. Combining Essentium’s High-Speed Extrusion (HSETM) 280i HT 3D printer with Braskem’s polyolefin materials is intended to unlock affordable, sustainable, and rapid volume production of 3D printed thermoplastic components.

Evonik joins Stratasys as a material partner Materials

Evonik, one of the world’s leading specialty chemicals companies, has joined Stratasys as the company’s third and newest material partner for the P3 technology-based Origin One 3D printer. Evonik is contributing its expertise in the development and manufacturing of ready-to-use photopolymer materials to enhance the P3 platform, which achieves injection molding part quality and surface finish with outstanding accuracy, in a diverse and continuously growing range of high-performance materials.
