BMW i Ventures Leads Seed Financing Round for Rapid Liquid Print

BMW i Ventures Leads Seed Financing Round for Rapid Liquid Print

When it was first presented, the MIT Self Assembly Lab’s liquid-in-liquid 3D printing process received an enormous amount of press coverage and visibility. I have to admit that we were skeptical about it. Then BMW started to play with it and demonstrated that Rapid Liquid Printing technology held great promise for rapid elastomer applications in the automotive segment. That’s when we began to understand the technology’s potential. Now BMW got even more serious with it and, through its BMW i Ventures (which has funded other successful ventures in AM such as Desktop Metal) led an investment in the seed financing round of Rapid Liquid Print (RLP), and its gel-printing technology. RLP uses industry-standard materials, such as soft rubber, silicone and foams, to produce soft, flexible products without retooling or post-processing. Also participating in the round is MassMutual through the MM Catalyst Fund (MMCF).

Quantum X Shape, a New, Ultra-precise 3D Microfabrication System

Quantum X Shape, a New, Ultra-precise 3D Microfabrication System

Nanoscribe, now a BICO company, launched the Quantum X shape, a new ultra-precise 3D microfabrication system for rapid prototyping and wafer-scale batch production. With the Quantum X shape, high-precision 3D printing becomes significantly more efficient in terms of printing on wafers up to 6 inches in size. This gain in efficiency is particularly important for a research lab and industrial manufacturing processes such as in life sciences, material engineering, microfluidics, micro-optics, micromechanics, and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS).

Anycubic Photon Ultra affordable DLP 3D printer in pre-sale for 9 3D Printer Hardware

Anycubic Photon Ultra affordable DLP 3D printer in pre-sale for $399 3D Printer Hardware

We don’t usually cover Kickstarter fund-raising projects unless they are credible projects that come from verified companies, who are already on the market with other similar products. Anycubic is one such company. They have been developing high-quality, very affordable LCD stereolithography systems which are on the market and we have been able to test. So if they say they are launching a new, affordable DLP 3D printer, the Anycubic Photon Ultra, on Kickstarter, we see this as more of a pre-sale campaign than an actual crowd-funding.

TEI Expands Sand Binder Jetting Capacity with Second Voxeljet VX4000

TEI (Tooling & Equipment International), a company specializing in complex castings in the engineering and manufacturing industry, has acquired the second voxeljet VX4000 system for sand binder jetting, one of the largest 3D printers in the world. TEI specializes in optimizing components, for example, to save weight in the aircraft industry, but also to accelerate the development of new components and vehicles in the e-mobility sector.
