About Project

Standing confidently with his arms crossed and a calm, assertive expression, the 3D-printed Beard Man figurine is a striking example of personalized full-color 3D printing. Designed and modeled by our client, this miniature statue captures the essence of the subject in remarkable detail-from the texture of his salt-and-pepper beard to the bold “Gas Monkey Garage” logo on his black T-shirt.

The figurine stands on a smooth white circular base, offering both balance and a clean aesthetic for display. He wears black pants and realistic sneakers, with natural folds and shading accurately recreated in the final print. The skin tone, facial features, and subtle expression have all been reproduced with an impressive degree of fidelity. Even the strands of hair and beard stubble have been preserved, showing off the capabilities of full-color texture mapping.

The printing was completed using the White Jet Process (WJP), a high-resolution full-color 3D printing technique that enables vivid color gradients, smooth surface transitions, and fine details in both face and fabric. While the print is sturdy and true to form, as with most color sandstone prints, it remains somewhat delicate and best suited for decorative or collectible purposes-not frequent handling.

Some minor softness in the finer textures is noticeable upon close inspection, particularly in darker regions like the shirt and shoes, but this is a common trade-off in full-color 3D printing where resolution and color density must be balanced. Nevertheless, the overall quality is excellent for a figurine of this scale and material.

At FacFox, we offer professional WJP full-color 3D printing services to bring your custom models to life-whether they're based on 3D scans, AI-generated characters, or detailed digital sculpts. Our White Jet Process produces photorealistic results ideal for figurines, collectibles, and character prototyping. Want to turn your ideas into vivid, tangible pieces? Let FacFox help you capture every detail in full color.

Solution

  • Step 1: A full-color 3D model file was prepared by the client, complete with detailed texture maps and exported in a WJP-compatible format (e.g., VRML or OBJ with MTL).
  • Step 2: The model file was imported into the WJP printer’s software and automatically sliced into thin horizontal layers.
  • Step 3: During printing, the print head was moved along the X and Y axes, and droplets of colored and white UV-curable resin were precisely jetted onto the build platform.
  • Step 4: Simultaneously, ultraviolet (UV) light was emitted along the movement path to instantly cure each droplet layer as it was deposited.
  • Step 5: After each layer was printed and cured, the build platform was lowered incrementally along the Z-axis by one layer thickness.
  • Step 6: Steps 3 through 5 were repeated layer by layer until the entire model was completed.
  • Step 7: Once printing was finished, the model was carefully removed from the platform and any support structures were detached.
  • Step 8: The surface was post-treated with a curing agent or coating to enhance color vibrancy and improve durability.
