About Project

Navy, pirate, military, battleship vessels have always fascinated the minds of sailors with their size and ability to plough the high seas. If you are much in love with the romance of sailing you might wish to collect your favorite vessels as 3D printed ships. Such projects are incredible to craft. There are so many details in every model powered by oar or sail that your pastime will never get boring.

For advanced players, 3D printing the garage kits and coating the parts by themselves has become the new trend. We recommend using SLA Tough Resin (Grey), which is suitable for fine-detail models with smooth surfaces.

Solution

  • Step 1: Our client has split the 3D model of the ships. We just check the STL files to ensure the details can be successfully printed with SLA 3D printing technology.
  • Step 2: Add supporting structures to the models and input the files to 3D printer. Tough resin (SLA) has better stiffness and impact resistance than generic resin, and produces parts with improved mechanical properties. We picked the grey color resin as it can clearly reflect the defects.
  • Step 3: Cut off supporting structure and remove excess materials. Post-cure them with UV after soaking in IPA and air drying.
  • Step 4: Polish the models manually with sandpaper, tweezer and grater.
