About Project

If you grew up playing science fiction video games or watching science fiction movies, at some point in your life you coveted the technology that you would see on your screen. And, honestly, who wouldn't? Maybe you dreamed of owning a flying car that could take you back to the future. Or, wished of racing a spaceship into a galaxy far far away. If you are a 90s baby, you expected to see some of these technologies running around in 2020.

Holding such alike expectation in his mind, the industrial design student has modeled a futuristic car model. It was not a flying car, but more liked the concept cars which are often shown at motor shows to gauge customer reaction to new and radical designs which may or may not be mass-produced.

Solution

  • Step 1: We made a thorough communication with the client as the model was consisting of many tiny parts. A detailed contract was necessary as there were so many requirements for printing, finishing, and assembling of different parts.
  • Step 2: Examine the model and address all the improper designs that may result in printing failure.
  • Step 3: 3D print all the parts with SLA ABS-like Resin. Post-cure them with UV after cleaning the excess material and the supporting structure.
  • Step 4: The enclosure and wheels were water transfer printed to reach a carbon fiber texture. All the hexagons were sprayed with UV-oil. LED lights were fixed on the wheel, tail and inside the car.
  • Step 5: Assemble all the parts and test the function.
