A client created a girl wearing a dinosaur suit and printed it with a desktop printer as a gift for his girlfriend who has been diagnosed with cancer, and encouraged her to be brave. We offered to print a new one with much fewer layer lines for free, but they are satisfied enough with their painting work.
Solution
Step 1: The client builds the model of little girl with ZBrush, and exports the STL file to us for a quotation. We scale down the model until the cost is an affordable price for the client. And some tiny details are lost due to scaling.
Step 2: Arrange the model in software and add necessary supports. Then 3D print it with SLA Generic Resin in one piece. The layer thickness we set is 0.1mm considering the client’s tight budget.
Step 3: The client asks to do the post-process under our suggestions for fun. Soon he finds it’s hard and tiring to sand the light-cured print fully manually, and he decides to keep the layer lines as a special texture.
Step 4: During hand-painting process, the client regrets that he should split the model aparts to print, so it could be easier for printing. Finally he sprays it with clear acrylic oil.
